The SLCT was invited to present for a Biology class at Central Connecticut State University on October 3rd, to share information about what land trusts are and the importance of them. We brought along the Connecticut Land Conservation Council to partner with us on this one. Great opportunity for us to engage with the youth and hopefully we inspired them to join their local land trust. 🎓🌳

We couldn’t have asked for better weather on Trails Day on June 1, 2024! Our nature walk around Panthorn was so fun with all who attended. Special thanks to Wildlife Biologist Pete Picone for sharing his knowledge with us!
Source to Sea
What a fantastic morning of giving back to our beautiful community! 🌎 Southington Land Trust members participated in the Source to Sea Cleanup on October 22. In just two hours, more than TEN bags of litter were collected. Nip bottles continue to top the list followed by dozens of drink bottles, fast food bags, soda, coffee cups and food containers.
Our efforts went beyond just picking up litter – we cleaned the access area to the Qriver canoe launch, as well as the bridge and street areas around QRiver.
Celebrating 50 years!Â
In March the State of Connecticut General Assembly issued an official citation to recognize the Southington Land Conservation Trust for 50 years of dedicated service to the town of Southington. Thank you to State Representative Chris Poulos for bestowing upon us this great honor!
At our Anniversary Dinner and Annual Meeting in May, we were presented with a proclamation by Town Council members Victoria Triano and Val DePaulo recognizing our contribution to Southington in preserving and protecting natural areas. We are honored to have received this and will continue our efforts to protect Southington’s natural areas in the future!
